Bern: Münsterplattform

The cathedral platform is located in the old town of Bern.

As the former churchyard of the St. Vincent Minster, this beautiful historical site is also frequently visited by tourists. The foundation stone of the terrace was laid in 1334, but the construction of the retaining walls was not completed until 1514. Until 1531 the platform served as a cemetery, then as a promenade. In 1897, the Mattenlift, popularly known as the “Senkeltram”, an electric passenger elevator from the Mattequartier to the platform was realized.
